Conclusion and introduction

the Introduction to my paper:

This contentious issue is about travelers settling on an old car scrap yard site illegally; this particular piece of land was sold off to the travelers and they didn’t get planning permission from the county council. This is a problem for the Basildon county council because the travelers have nested illegally with 86 families on green belt land.

Basildon County has tried for 10 years to move the travelers, but with no success.

My Conclusion findings:

Police used stun guns of 50,000 volts, Len Gridley a local neighbor that had these illegal travelers at the bottom of his garden and has had several years of stones throw at him and verbal abuse,  also said that the police were light handed not heavy handed as described by top politician.

Travelers clung to the nearest metal railings – and activists locked themselves to the railings and camped there.

Kate Alan of amnesty international UK said – stun guns should only be used on violent individuals who clearly there was in this case according to the police and the bailiffs.

By 5pm the tower was cleared and the travelers were cleaned out, with several arrests taking place, with a man using violent disorder, a woman who refused to move her face covering {she will be bailed to southend magistrates court in November the 2^nd} and a further 30 to 40 people will be taken to be questioned by officers during that day.

Abstract:

 It’s a story of the illegal travelers applying in court about there illegal site wanting to be moved by the Basildon council.

Eventually Basildon council won the courts after a long delayed decision from the judge, and so the travelers blocked them self’s within dale farm making sure they were determined to stay.  But then this brought the bailiffs and the police around to break through and clear out the travelers.

After a couple of days the police rounded up the travelers and moved them away from site, leaving the site as a no man waste land.

The legal side of the dale farm is now going into the courts decision to be removed as well.

My reflection - how i achived

Throughout this term i have experienced many things throughout this course, things that i have never thought about before like PDP, planning your time to get the tasks done in a suitable amount of time, useful information about what enployers want as a good employee and being organised.

But theres a few things i have to cover that muddled me along the way.

 Between the lecture and the tutorial lessons are not in sync, with each other.

Also between the lecturer and turtorials lessons the required points to have in your final submission.

One example is i have been asked to print out my blog in printed form on Mondays lecture to go with my printed paper to be handed in at the end of the term, I have been also told in the Tuesdays turtorial lesson to put the blog address on my papers, so it can be accessed by the tutorial teacher personally. I will follow the tutorial mans request but its confusing when you get two answers.

I have achieved basic refreshing english skills again since I have not done any english related subject  in a while.

In our research methodology  I have gathered information from many newspapers, radio stations and the television, due to the subject being the latest recently solved issue.

The newspapers are the Essex enquirer, daily mail, Maldon and Burnham – the standard, Essex chronicle and the independent.

The Chelmsford radio and radio Essex.

Television news from the BBC and ITV Anglia region.

The reason why I are using these sources is because they are a proper source that is up to date and is not a second grade site by an individual e.g. Wikipedia. The Sources are modern reports from big incorporations at get the news on site, straight away and from the county council, etc.

Ethics:  the moral of the story is that these travels have to a bay the law and cant base camp in the green belt land illegally. The ethical problems I could face in this contentious issue is that it has not been logged in a book or journal.

Qualitative:

3.Why are we tax payers paying for the travellers to go to court anyway?

5.Why  don’t the travellers just move sites offered to them?

6.Why did they use human activists  to block the entrance.

1. Because court case after court case, it wont make a final date to move them. Finally 11 years.

2. They have battled through the council, government and the courts to evict them.

3. Because of the legal aid system.

4. Because they were trying every angle to stay.

5. Because they would rather stay together.

6. As a treat to stop the police forces from breaking in and cleaning them out.

A Literature review of 250 words

Dale farm contentious issue

 The Dale farm traveler’s site at Cray’s Hill, Basildon Essex is a contentious issue about travelling families, putting their caravans on pieces of land that they bought from what used to be scrap yard and not getting planning permission to live there.

“Problems began ten years ago when two travelers bought a former car scrap yard on a six acre plot next to the authorized site, and subdivided it into plots which they sold to other travelers.”” to currently house about 400 people on the pitches.” in 54 homes of which 49  have been ordered to be removed.

This argument between Basildon council and the travelers lead to several court cases to avoid eviction, which failed so, the travelers then applied for human rights.

The decision by the judge delayed the eviction of the travelers several times within a month period.

This then failed on the 17^th of October when the travelers lost to the high court and the judge ordered the eviction to go ahead on the 20^th October and with in this month protesters started arriving in force at the gates of dale farm, they barricaded themselves in and chained them selves to the fence. When the police and bailiffs came to remove the travelers it was not peaceful, rocks were throw and taser guns were used but all have left.

The site was then cleared of the travelers on Thursday the 20^th of October 2011; the site is now being surveyed to see how to reinstate the land.

Q: What type of learner are you identified as?

A: according to the Vark Questionnaire i have been identified as a excellent kinesthetic { doing } person that does the work straight away without leaving my work to the last minute, an excellent reader and writer, adding detail into my work. A excellent listener and will ask questions during the process if i dont understand. Not very good visual person, this is true unless it put in a way i can understand otherwise I will need it explained.

Q: Does this surprise you?

A: No, not really because this is how i work and i think the questionnaire has identified me. 

Q: what style of learning is your least favourite  / what techniques could you practice to help to enhance your learning style.

A: My least favourite learning style is complex books and just the lecturer talking without any visual diagrams to backup what the person saying, this only applies if the lesson's not straight forward. Techniques I could practice to enhance my learning would be using more books.

Learning Line

My learning line throughout my years of school starts with my primary school at heybridge, learning through the years of year 1 to year 6, I gained my first experience on a computer. The teachers were understanding to my learning needs and provided me with class helpers to help me on my way.

Secondary school through the years of 7 to 11 I had many different options on the type of course path I wanted.
Deciding on what options to take I choose Btec interactive media, graphics, engineering  and resistant materials, because this left me a range of options to which I could then choose in order to make the right decision for a career. During my GCSE's studies focusing on my four technology subjects I then decided the career i would like to follow would be Btec interactive media in my local 6th form collage.

The teachers had advised me that i would be good in the subjects of engineering and resistant materials, but my main interest was with Interactive media.
Gaining the grades I required to follow into further studies I then gained A levels in Btec interactive media, photography and art and design / graphics.

Photography and art/ graphics was taken because you had to take three subjects and there related to Btec in creative ways.

Getting destinations in Btec interactive media and photography i earned my position at Anglia ruskin chelmsford campus.
